If someone strikes to destroy the weapon with first strike and is
successful, I'm confused about why the former bearer of the hook gets
a press.
For example-
Minion A: Strike with hook
Minion B: Strike to destroy hook w/first strike
Resolution
Minion B: First strike resolves before regular strikes, so the weapon

Saulot clan impersonates into bali and becomes the great beast. Beast
gets OBE, TEM and maybe even THA. There you have it.
Beast rushes plays Vitae block for 3, weather control for 1, Outside
the Hourglass for 2 damage, then hits for 4 and ends combat with first
strike.

And more ways for non-titled vampires to put them in play. I realise
that it would require quite a lot of balancing thoughts, but currently
the mechanic isnt used very much.

I understand your point and it's well argued. I'm not anti-promo, my
thinking was that everyone can ID an Ebony Kingdom card, but I had
doubts how accurate people are with understanding which promo cards
came out which year. Even I have several promos and it's all a blur
to me when/where I got them.

I suspect it would be hard to organise one that doesn't coincide with
a bigger event (and provide a reason for people to want to pay the
cash to spend 5 days out of the country possibly with family and spend
time playing VTES). It could be worth inviting the Japanese guys to a
Nationals in Singapore (and maybe include any players from nearby

Heh--not yet. My first monkeying with the new BB tech is the deck we
are both playing; my IG/fight tech new stuff monkeying has all gone
into the bad Grotesque deck I'm playing in that other JOL game.

We are in agreement. With Rush, you really don't have the actions to spare
getting a Camera phone anyway. You should oust using Fame, Tension,
Dragonbound.
Speaking of which, made an Oppugnant Night deck yet?

Yeah, that seems like exactly like what I was getting at, and I think
that is exactly what is going on. The environment being flooded with
Weighted Walking Sticks (which for a long time were kind of hard to
get, but have been common as dirt for the last few sets) started the
upswing of opportunistic combat in decks that wouldn't have had any

It is rather dubious that with only one (mini) set released within a
year, the promos of that same year are not included at all.
In 2009 a massive amount of 11 promos were released. Ebony Kingdom
contained 60 cards.
So, more than 15% of the released cards of 2009 are just ignored! It
just doesn't seem right.

Camera Phone helps a lot of stuff, but not so much Rush combat. Making
it so all of your guys can bleed for 2 with no cards at all (other
than the initial Camera Phone) goes a long way towards making any deck
have a good offensive potential. If it results in folks blocking you
more (so you can hit them some as a result), all the better.

Why use Aid from Bats over Flesh Bond? It gives you 1 more ranged
damage(speaking of that, where's Target: Vitals) and the option to
S:CE, not because your combo might not work, but just in case they
trump it with their own uber combo. ;P
